The Y carriage is the table on which the milling operations take place. It is capable of forward and backward movement. It is constructed of wood and plastic parts.
Step 1: Assemble the Y carriage base pieces. If the acrylic pieces have
paper masking adhered to them, peel them off before proceeding. The four rectangular pieces (pictured to the left) should then be fit together, all with their flat sides facing down.
When fitting the wood and acrylic pieces together, you may need to sand some wood tabs for proper fit. Do not force the plastic pieces, as they may crack.
On the plastic to wood overlaps, notice the holes for bolts. Use four of the 14mm M3 bolts and four nuts to secure the base pieces together.
Step 2: Insert four plastic bearings into the outer two holes in the plastic in the same manner they were inserted into the X and Z carriages.
Step 3: Attach assembled base to large wood platform by inserting tabs into platform slots. Use 16mm M3 bolts and nuts to affix the base to the
platform.
